TRANSPORTATION Out of the Southeast's fastest growing business areas, the Greenville/Spartanburg metro area is located at what is known as "The Crossroads of the New South" - the intersection of two of the nation's most traveled interstate highways, I-26 and I-85. Three US highways and 20 state highways traverse Spartanburg County. The Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport accommodates over one million travelers yearly with service by several major airlines and two large commuter airlines. AN INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY The Greenville/Spartanburg area is touted for its traditional Southern hospitality flavored with international flair. Recently chosen by BMW for their first North American manufacturing plant, this area of the upstate is home to over 231 international companies including Adidas, Dunlop, Hitachi, Kohler, Michelin, Milliken & Company and W.R. Grace. RECREATION AND CULTURE The Greenville/Spartanburg area offers an abundance of year-round outdoor activities from hiking in the nearby mountains to fishing and boating on area lakes. The NFL's Carolina Panthers are located in nearby Charlotte with training camp at Spartanburg's own Wofford College .
